Healthy communication always includes clarity and clarity in both romantic love relationships and relationships between people in everyday life. However, when it comes to the sexual sphere, people here often allow themselves to demonstrate a duality of intentions. Flirting addicts fail to recognize that their actions run counter to the general understanding of honest relationships between people.
Results of statistical research i
Researchers from the University of Texas (USA) and the University of New Brunswick (Canada) asked 742 students (143 guys, 599 girls) about whether they had similar experiences.
It turned out that 60% of guys and girls have done this at least once. Moreover, deliberate flirting without continuation is most often characteristic of the female sex.
Very few of the respondents admitted that they were flirting with a stranger. As a rule, acquaintances or friends were the purpose of flirting. In fact, only 25% of the time the ultimate goal of the initiator of the flirtation was sex.
Flirtation Motivation 2
What motives are pursued by those who give others ambiguous signals? Researchers believe they are similar in men and women. Basically, the main motivation is the desire to make yourself more desirable in the eyes of others. However, women are more likely than men to strive to be attractive and thereby increase their self-esteem. Flirting wants to feel their own power, "omnipotence."

On the other hand, men more often cited the desire to simply have fun, or to do it as a joke as a motive. Also, the respondents of the stronger sex were more likely to collect such cases in the “piggy bank” of their achievements - so that later there was something to talk about with friends.
What those who flirt with feel 3
As for those on the other side of the barricades, in a third of cases flirting without continuing aroused a similar desire in them - just to have fun and enjoy the process of communication. On the other hand, about a third of the respondents said that they were not interested in these sexual signals, and they responded with indifference. 15% ignored coquetry. And another 15% admitted that flirting without continuation caused them depression.
Of course, this study speaks of trends prevalent among young people. However, similar dynamics can be traced among the representatives of the older generation. For those who like to flirt, it is important to be aware of their own motives in time.
Flirting as a test of strength4
If you become caught in the network of an amateur flirt, it is important to consider: in some cases, a man or woman can thus not only demonstrate his own bitchiness, but also test your strength. A person who is experienced in relationships with the opposite sex understands that not every person will be able to withstand such psychological games without losing their mental balance.

It so happens that the addressee of the flirting very quickly slips into the position of the "victim", or begins to show aggression. For the initiator, this immediately serves as a litmus test, demonstrating the qualities of this person's character. So it immediately becomes clear whether it is worth transferring communication to another level or not.
