Researcher Peter Picard from Chicago, USA, surveyed 615 teens, ages 13 to 18. It turned out that most of the "dysfunctional" adolescents every now and then were threatened by peers or representatives of other age groups. Moreover, these threats were carried out using a mobile phone.

A third of teenagers who were in a romantic relationship shared: often the other half writes them 10, 20, and even 30 messages in one hour. In these messages, their lovers try to figure out where and with whom they spend time.

Another study showed that young girls are more likely to follow their lovers using their mobile phones. At the same time, the young men unanimously agreed that their girlfriends were constantly trying to figure out how they were spending their time. Control messages were sent by girls, mainly via social media or SMS messages.

Finally, both sexes admitted to sneakily peeking into their phones at least once to view Internet history or text messages.

There are psychologists who see excessive smartphone control as the new norm in relationships. However, it is worth remembering that in a situation of control, one of the partners will always feel hurt, untrustworthy. And this will always affect the relationship in a negative way.

Assurances of honesty and safety received from a lover can remove control, psychologists say.
