Many have already dubbed this drug "the female version of Viagra." Well, such a name may be fair if we take into account the main function of the drug - namely, to increase libido. As for the principle of action, Viagra and Vilessi are completely different.

Viagra has a greater effect on the mechanical aspect of intercourse: it enhances blood supply to the penis, increasing blood flow to the erogenous zones. As for Vilessi, this drug activates the areas of the brain responsible for arousal.

It is believed that female genital disorders are more difficult than male ones - especially when it comes to losing interest in sex. A man with erectile dysfunction does not necessarily have to suffer from decreased libido. The problem can be caused, for example, by insufficient blood supply.

In women, the most vulnerable are not the mechanisms of arousal, but the libido itself, which is influenced by a complex of factors - from the characteristics of the hormonal background at one stage or another to everyday stresses.

Vilessi is not the first drug of its kind2

In 2015, a drug called Flibanserin entered the Western market, which was used as a daily remedy to increase female libido. Doctors believe that Vilessi, unlike his predecessors, is a more radical way of solving the problem.

At the same time, doctors do not recommend that US residents rush to experiment. Dr. Becky Kaufmann Lynn, current physician at the St. Lewis Center for Sexual Health, says: “We are just testing this drug for the time being, and it is not available everywhere. But even in regions where Vilessi is already available, we do not advise women to use this medication right away.

Depending on the situation, the girl may need a completely different approach - for example, working with a sexologist, doing Kegel exercises, reading erotic stories, and so on. Vilessi is a radical measure, and before prescribing this drug, you need to make sure that the patient's problem is not purely psychological or has no other roots."

One of the most common side effects from Vilesi is nausea. It has occurred in 40% of women taking the medicine. Moreover, most often it manifested itself after the first injection.

Lynn emphasizes that the drug does not need to be taken every day, and therefore do not have to deal with its side effects too often. "Women can assess their own condition and rethink the need to take Vilessi - is the libido so low to take this drug?"

Other side effects included hot flashes, headache, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, cough, and nasal congestion. Vilessi can also increase blood pressure. The numbers usually return to normal within 12 hours. Therefore, taking "female Viagra" is not recommended for women suffering from heart and cardiovascular diseases.

About 1% of women reported darkening of the gums and other skin areas. And this negative effect did not disappear in about half of all cases.

“Don't berate the new drug,” Lynn stresses. “After all, any drug that we take has a number of side properties. You can read about them in any manual."

Prior to FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) approval, Vilessey was tested in several clinical trials. They were attended by 1247 premenopausal women. The effectiveness of the drug was determined by their assessment of their own sexual desire. The results showed that libido increased significantly in 25% of the participants. In the group of subjects who took placebo, this figure was 17%. About 35% of women also noticed an increase in libido, but it was not as strong as the subjects themselves expected.
